So I plan on purchasing a new camera in the next month or so, and I'm really torn by all the choices these days. I was hoping some of you might be able to chime in on the subject. I'm looking to spend under $2500 for a body, at least one nice piece of glass, and a flash plus all the little goodies like filters and bounces. I want to find something that shoots well in low light situations with moving subjects, concert photography mostly.
Right now I'm leaning towards the Nikon D90, as it seems to fit for exactly what I want. I've been looking at that and a Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5 VR paired with the SB-600 flash. That setup seems like it will cover the base of what I want. The other one I've been looking at is the Canon 50D, with the canon equivalent lens + flash, which seems to be a tad bit more expensive overall and lacks a few features the D90 has.
I'm also considering picking up a 50mm f/1.4, it was fast enough to shoot without a flash at some venues without having to turn the ISO up to something obscene. The only problem with this is that means carrying around an extra lens at a concert, and even if I'm sitting on stage at some point I'll be navigating through a crowd with it to get the shots I want.
If anyone has any input on the subject, it would be appreciated.
